St. Mark’s Housekeeper is a crucial position for St. Mark’s Episcopal School and Church.  While this position encompasses many different duties, its primary function is to assure facilities are clean, prepared, and function smoothly.  This is a full-time, year-round, non-exempt position, reporting to the Facilities Manager.  Hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm with 30-minutes for lunch.

 

Duties:

  • Daily check of all bathrooms and classrooms for cleanliness and supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, soap, cleanser, etc.).  Ensuring all facilities are cared for, clean, neat and orderly.
  • Check in with all Primary and Lower School restrooms and teachers for supplies before 8:00 AM each school day.
  • Performing housekeeping responsibilities including sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing, etc.
  • Managing housekeeping supplies, alerting the Facilities and/or Assistant Facilities Managers when supplies are low.
  • Respond to daily on-demand calls for clean ups of accidents, sickness, etc.
  • Spot clean carpets on a regular basis throughout the day per a schedule.
  • Clean light fixtures and report damaged ceiling tiles.
  • Maintain elevators, hallways and common areas/hallways, scrubbing walls and doors when needed.
  • Collect, clean, fold and store lost and found items.
  • Empty trash receptacles as needed during the day.
  • Assist with clean-up after lunch in the cafeteria.
  • Assist with setting up tables and chairs for events and restoring afterwards.
  • Keep sidewalks looking clean and fresh using a broom, garden hose and mop.
  • Occasional weekend, holiday, and overtime work may be required.

  • Comprehension of instructions in English and Spanish is preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

  1. Normal physical mobility and coordination which includes movement from place to place such as climbing stairs and ladders.
  2. Able to stand and push a supply cart all day with breaks.
  3. Ability to reach and bend, push/pull, and lift and carry objects within a weight in excess of 50 pounds. 
  4. Must be able to work outdoors in seasonal conditions.
